KTM 250GS 1981
In total, when
I bought it, I thought that only the motoplat ignition system where broken.
I fould a NOS (New Old Stock) motoplat, mounted it and she started. The engine
did run real nice
once I sorted out a carb problem caused by an earlier owner.
Then I discovered
that the lower fork slider on the right side was cracked just below the wheel
axel. After failed welding attempts I dug up a parted out aprilia with the very
same fork.
The fork was ok but then I discovered this odd looking bulb on the front of
the engine case.
There I found some plastic padding putty covering a crack and covered with silver
paint.
I tried to weld that too but it didn't work out!
The project where
put on a hold for a while when I started to locate bits'n pieces. I have been
very fortunate to find practically everything. Tom G in switzerland found an
engine that I got
along with some other pieces. Dr2.Stroke could provide the rear fender which
is very hard to find.
Thanks to them and everybody that has provided advice, encouraging words and
info!
